About Charpak Ltd

For almost 30 years, Charpak has been a market leader and innovator of vacuum formed packaging.

Charpak have developed thermo-formed packaging products for all market sectors worldwide as well as specialising in packaging for food and pharmaceutical products.

Charpak’s specialist team work on initial concepts through to the finished product, offering design, prototyping and production of its packaging products.

The innovation

Following a brief meeting at a manufacturing exhibition, Myriad Associates were invited to visit Charpak’s manufacturing operation in Huntingdon.

Charpak have been designing innovative thermo-formed packaging for almost 30 years and didn’t think they qualified for R&D Tax Relief.

"Following an initial site visit which included Myriad Associates doing a walk-through of Charpak’s manufacturing operation, they quickly identified plenty of product innovations and process developments that would qualify for R&D tax credits."

Myriad Associates’ CIMA qualified Cost Accountant analysed Charpak’s cost base to ensure that all qualifying expenditure was identified and captured. Myriad Associates also produced the Amended Company Tax Return (CT600) and tax computations.

The reward

Charpak received a well deserved corporation tax refund which will be used to help fund future R&D projects.

Myriad’s in-house manufacturing and costing specialists ensured that the R&D tax credit claim was maximised and client time was minimised.

“We were delighted to discover that our product and process innovations qualified for funding support under the HMRC R&D tax relief scheme. We will now look to invest more into R&D with the aim of making further technical advancements in vacuum thermo-formed manufacturing.”
